- built in 1942 as a motorised galleass for Niels Christensen from Rønne, Denmark, it was originally called "Karis" but was soon renamed "Talata" and used for cargo transport, including grain.
- sold in 1974 to shipowner Per Henriksen, converted into a three-masted topsail schooner and continued to be used for cargo transport, but also for passenger voyages, renamed "Mercantic II" in 1977.
- sold to San Francisco, USA, for tax reasons in 1985 and renamed "Jacqueline".
- when the sailing ship was due to be sold again in 1991, Per Henriksen exercised his right of first refusal and brought her back to Denmark.
- after a general overhaul at Ring-Andersen and conversion to a charter ship, the name was changed to "Else Dorothea Bager" (this was the name of the owner's mother).
- 1993 the "Else Dorothea Bager" was a guest at the Hanse Sail in Rostock, GER.
- 1996 the Tuborg Brewery purchased the ship and has used it for advertising purposes ever since, since the bottle opener is often called "Madonna" because of its shape, the ship was appropriately named "Madonna".
- purchased in 2010 by Vivi Henriksen and Henrik Frederiksen, renamed "Zar" primarily for private use.
- sold in 2015 to the "Skonnerten Zar" association, used for charitable and cultural purposes and as a training ship for young people.
- today a charter ship under the name "Northern Grace" under the management of the family-run shipping company Northern Survey ApS from Aarhus, DK.
