- the only remaining big liner, building such a ship was extremely expensive because 2,000 to 2,500 oak trees aged approximately 110 years were used in her construction.
- although the ship entered service after the North American Declaration of Independence in 1776, it was not used for day-to-day operations.
- used as a flagship during the Anglo-French war 1790-1793.
- afterwards unrigged and used as a hospital ship.
- refitted as a liner between 1800 and 1803.
- Lord Nelson's flag-ship at the Battle of Trafalgar.
- used until 1812, laid up and then brought to Plymouth dry dock in 1922. Fully restored and now open to visitors.
