- built in 1885 in Humlebæk, Denmark, for fishing and fish transport, based in Frederikshavn, Denmark, she sailed between Bornholm and the Danish coast primarily with cargoes of cod.
- first equipped with a marine engine (12 hp) in 1907.
- based in Skagen, Denmark under the name "Karla" for many years.
- from 1935, home port was Ballen on the island of Samsø, Denmark; owner Kaj Lykke Hansen commissioned a conversion for general cargo transport in Løgstør, Denmark; originally rigged as a schooner, she was converted into a gaff ketch.
- 1961 an overhaul and restoration began, which was not completed for a long time.
- 2018 acquired by the "Foreningen Karoline Svane" association, and the restoration to her original 1885 condition was resumed, rigged as a schooner, since 2023 she has been used for sailing trips along the Danish coast.
