  • a genuine working Chesapeake Bay skipjack, lauched in Harry Hogan, Va., by the Krentz Shipyard for Captain David Lewis of Wingate, Md., in 1955, skipjacks are sailing crafts designed and built to dredge for oysters, during the peak building years approximately from the 1880s to 1910 it is estimated well over a thousand skipjacks were built, skipjacks typically have a flat or v-shaped bottom and a shallow draft with a centerboard, the rig is simple, a self-tending jib and large triangular mainsail make these vessels easy to sail with a small crew.
  • "H.M. Krentz" is U.S. Coast Guard certified to carry 32 passengers, available for charter to groups at reasonable hourly rates, or individuals can join scheduled two hour tours, homeport is Dogwood Harbor on Tilghman Island, Maryland, regular visits to St. Michaels, the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum, Oxford, and Annapolis.
  • puchased by Captain Ed in 1990, after three years of effort the "H.M. Krentz" was ready for the Coast Guard inspection so that it too could earn its keep year round.
