  • the sister ships 'Gladan' and 'Falken' were built as training ships for the Swedish navy; their rigging and hulls are very similar, built in the style of the German pilot schooner
  • both schooners undertake 4-week voyages with cadets from the Karlskrona marine college
  • has taken part in Tall Ships Races and regattas since 1956
  • the 'Gladan' won the Cutty Sark Trophy in 1978 and 1992 as an expression of its excellent nautical handling and its contribution to international understanding
  • both schooners took part in the 1995 Sail Bremerhaven regatta
  • they normally sail together in the Cutty Sark Tall Ships Races in Northern European waters
