  • put into service as a successor to the legendary windjammer "Dar Pomorza" in 1982; a large amount of the money needed to build the vessel was collected by young Polish people; during her maiden voyage she participated the STA race 1982 from England to Portugal and back
  • on each voyage 150 cadets from the marine academy in Gdynia have the opportunity to be trained for one year in marine engineering and nautical skills on board the "Dar Mlodziezy" with special attention paid maintaining maritime traditions, to meet the costs also paying trainees sail on board
  • as one of the fastest fully-rigged sailing ships, she has taken part in many races, such as the 1982 England-Portugal Regatta, the 1985 Sail Amsterdam, the 1992 Grand Regatta Columbus, the 1995 Sail Bremerhaven and 100th anniversary celebrations for the North-Baltic Sea Channel 1995 and the 1996 Tall Ships Race in the Mediterranean; the ship sailed the Transatlantic Race 2000 and participated the Sail Bremerhaven 2000
  • the vessel was designed by the well-known ship designer Zygmunt Choren (Poland), who also designed the very similar but some longer ships "Mir" (1987), "Druzhba" (1987), "Pallada" (1988), "Khersones" (1988) and "Nadezhda" (1989) in the following years
