  • built as the "Bürgermeister Bartels" at the shipyard Wichhorst in Hamburg in 1905, used as a lightship, at last at station "Elbe II", for more than 70 years, after that used for some years by the fire brigades to practice putting out a fire.
  • refitted and converted into a barkentine and cruising ship in 1984-85, initiated by Captain H. Paschburg at the Scheel and Joehnk shipyard in Hamburg and in Stettin, Poland, renamed the "Atlantis".
  • first sea trials under the flag of the Fiji Island and registered in Suva, should be operated by Tallship Cruises Ltd. of Fiji in the Pacific, but then she cruised along European coasts under the flag of Panama.
  • 1986 reduction of her rigging for stability reasons.
  • sailing in European waters since 1988, temporarily registered in Malta in 1989.
  • 1997 taken over by Dutch owners, generally overhauled and rebuilding of the deck and underwater part of the hull, registered in Hoorn, NED, since 1997, since then she sails the Baltic Sea in summer, and putting into Eastern and Western Mediterranean ports during the colder months.
  • the charter vessel offers luxurious accomodation for passengers, has 17 double cabins with shower, satellite-phone, TV and video.
  • awarded the highest class of safety for ships cruising with passengers by the Germanischer Lloyd.
  • the barkentine takes regularly part in sailing gatherings in the North and Baltic Sea areas, including Bremerhaven, Kiel and Rostock.
  • in April 2005 sold in a public auction to a subsidiary company of a mortgage bank, purchased by the Bruinsma brothers then, after a refitting she will be available in the charter business again under Dutch flag.
