- built at the shipyard of H.C. Stülcken & Sohn in Hamburg, GER; launched on June 25, 1931.
- 1933 commissioned into the Yugoslav Royal Navy as training ship, used in the Mediterranean Sea and in the Atlantic Ocean, 1938 voyage to North America calling ports in New York and Boston.
- 1941 in World War II after German invasion of Yugoslavia captured by the Italian navy, used as a training ship, renamed the "Marco Polo".
- 1943 after the capitulation of Italy she laid abandoned in Venice, ITA; begin of decay, barely floating she served as a bridge in one of the Venetian canals.
- given back to Yugoslavia, she returned to Tivat, repaired between April 1947 and December 1948.
- served as training ship of the Vojnopomorskog school center in Divulje, Croatia.
- 1956-57 general repairs and reconstruction in Tivat, completely gutted, replacement of the complete inventory and a mast, dismantling of the deck.
- 1966-67 another general repair and modernization in the Tivatin Arsenal.
- 1967-92 used by the Yugoslavian navy as training ship, out of service then for a time.
- 2005 she took part in Trafalgar bicentennial celebrations in Portsmouth, GBR.
- passed to Montenegro in 2006, commissioned as training ship again.
- drydocked in 2013 at the Adriatic shipyard Bijela-Boka Bay, Montenegro.
- name "Jadran" means Adriatic sea.
