  • built through support of a private businessman and his family as a sail training vessel of Queensland, AUS; design by naval architect Rick James, launched in September 1993.
  • used for sail training purposes in the shallow waters of Moreton Bay and the north Queensland coast, maiden voyage with 24 paying trainees in December 1993.
  • operates as far north as Cairns during winter and south to Sydney during summer.
  • The Sail Training Association of Queensland (STAQ) is a non-profit organisation established to provide a sail training vessel to introduce young people to the experiences of adventure through traditional sailing, to encourage those young people to develop leadership skills, independence, initiative, teamwork, self discipline, communication skills and tolerance towards others, to teach the basics of sailing, seamanship and maritime knowledge to the participants.
