  • built in 1925 as a private fishing yacht by John James, Essex, Massachusetts, launched on November 21, 1925, owned by Harold Hathaway of Taunton.
  • 1941 purchased by the Boston Pilots Association, she began a 32 year career as a pilot schooner based in Boston Habour, some modifications for that service, during World War II since 1942 the schooner served in the Coast Guard Reserve as a patrol vessel (Number CGR 812, machine gun installed on deck).
  • she is said to be the last pilot schooner active in the United States when she was retired from service in 1971.
  • 1972 sold to some Boston businessmen, converted into a passenger sailing vessel, after some time in Boston she changed the owner again and came to Camden purchased by captains J. Sharp and O. Young, after some further modifications of the accomodations she became a charter vessel out of Camden.
  • participated in the Tall Ships events like the Bi-Centennial Tall Ship's celebrations in New York and Boston in 1976, New York 1980 and Halifax 1984, the Tall Ships Parade at the rededication of the Statue of Liberty in 1986, the Tall Ships 2000 event in Boston 2000.
  • aquired by the World Ocean School nonprofit organization of Camden in 2002, restoration of the schooner "Roseway" over the next 18 months in Boothbay Harbor, she became a platform for the programs of the school for 14-16 teenagers from around the world.
  • named after an acquaintance of Hathaway's (first owner), "who always got her way".
  • registered as National Historic Landmark.
