  • training ship built for the Ecuadorian navy after the same lines like the "Gloria" (1967), her older and a little smaller sistership, keel laid in June 1976, launched in October and completed and handed over to the Ecuadorian Navy in July 1977.
  • named after Ecuador's main river.
  • 1977-78 she mainly sailed the East Pacific and the Caribbean, circumnavigation of South America calling 10 forein ports.
  • sailed to Europe in 1980 and took part in the Tall Ships Races from Cartagena/Colombia to Norfolk/USA, claiming second place; she also came third in the Boston to Kristiansand/Norway race and participated the Cutty Sark Tall Ships Race from Kiel/Germany to Amsterdam, via Karlskrona/Sweden and Frederikshavn/Denmark.
  • 1981 she sailed to Hawaii and Acapulco; in 1982, to the Marquesas Islands and Punta Arenas in southernmost Chile.
  • another circumnavigation of South America was made in 1983.
  • 1984 she sailed to in Hawaii, California and along the Mexican West Coast.
  • 1985 she sailed to Easter Island and to Juan Fernandez in Chile.
  • participated the 1986 Operation Sail in New York.
  • 1987-88 she sailed via Tahiti and Fiji to Australia to participate in the Australia bicentenary celebrations, return via New Zealand, Peru and Chile.
  • after two longer voyages to the Caribbean she sailed to Lisbon to participate in the Columbus Regatta to Cadiz, Tenerife and Puerto Rico in 1992.
  • after 3 further voyages to the Caribbean and the Gulf of Mexico she called Atlantic ports in the United States in 1998 and sailed to San Francisco with calls at Acapulco, San Diego and Monterrey in 1999.
  • participated the OpSail 2000, San Juan - Miami - Norfolk - Baltimore and New York - New London.
