  • 1980 built as a modern craft for the fishery at the shipyard Haak in Zaandam, NED, used along the English shore, in the English Channel and the North Sea with the name "Relinquenda".
  • in August 1984 near the island Texel she collided with a wreck from World War II, she was salvaged and sold.
  • bankruptcy of the new owner prevent her conversion to a yacht.
  • 1994 Arnold Hylkema and Henk Stallinga purchased the hull and started her conversion to a traditionally rigged sailing ship, repair of the hull at the shipyard Welgelegen, Lauwershoek, NL, further work at V.D. Werf & Visser, rigged as a barkentine with 14 sails. The fore mast was rigged with square sails and the main and mizzen mast with top and gaff sails, renamed the "Thalassa".
  • "Thalassa" sails as a charter vessel und offers a full range of services such as sailing trips, conferences, workshops and presentations for up to 120 guests, a large upper deck and the saloons offer many meeting areas for passengers.
  • The barkentine participate in sailing events in North and Baltic Sea ports and sometimes sails as an accompanying ship during regattas e.g. the Kieler Woche and Hanse Sail Rostock.
  • The word Thalassa is the sea in Greek language and after Greek mythology it is the goddess of the sea.
