Great history to this schooner. Before the Caymans the (ex)owners were real lovers and enthusiasts, indeed they revived her from her state of decay to full former glory. This was their lifeblood, and I am sure it tortured them to hear that she sank less than 2 years after being sold.

I used to sail on Nancy and was friends with previous owner Costa and One time Skipper York Kuhn trying to track them down. Anyone have an idea where they are.

it made me so sad to see this wonderful
boat go under. i thought it was a very
beautiful time machine full of history and the world needs more tall ships.
this boat had a lot of history and did everything. i don't know how many times around the world but a few it use to run cargo in the far east (rice) I don't know how many miles she logged either but it must have been a lot...
Cruising the CAYMAN ISLANDS was a great place for her to end her days above the deep. knowing that over 215 tall ships were built here by natives by hand off of scale models between 1903 and 1950. a landmark vessel built by Caymanians 'iron men on wooden
ships'is Florida's official tall ship and last tall ship built in Key West
THE 'WESTERN UNION' SCHOONER in 1939
its 130 ft long shallow draft. built by
Heber and Loxley Arch of Grand Cayman. So even though Nancy was built on the other side of the world and in the old fashion way it share the same shipbuilding heritage. i had loved that
old boat...her replacemen the Valhalla
will never measure up....keep her memory alive
